College Football TV Schedule - Week 0
On Saturday, the 2022 college football season will kickoff with its Opening Weekend games. Nebraska and Northwestern square off in Dublin, Ireland for an impressive matchup that could set off an entire year's worth of play.

Illinois head coach Bret Bielema begins his second year of rebuilding efforts against Wyoming (4 p.m. ET, BTN), while ESPN GameDay travels to Colorado and Utah for their Power 5 openers against non-conference opponents.
Nebraska at Northwestern

After months of anticipation, college football finally returns this weekend. Nebraska and Northwestern play in Dublin in what could be one of the season's marquee matches in Week 0.

The Cornhuskers look to rebound from last season's 3-9 mark while the Wildcats boast one of the league's worst offenses after finishing last in 2021. Scott Frost faces increased scrutiny in Lincoln and this win could prove pivotal in keeping his job.

Northwestern will face a Nebraska offense that boasts multiple weapons, led by running back Maurice Hull who averaged 4.4 yards per carry and scored 13 touchdowns last season. But Northwestern has an elite defensive line led by three players that will make it difficult for Nebraska to generate consistent offensive rhythm. College Football Playoff Schedule out of the last 10 meetings between these teams saw total scores exceeding 50 points; I expect this time around it will happen once more.
Iowa at Iowa State

Iowa and Iowa State will meet for one final time as members of the Big 12 during this 2024 game, both teams placing considerable weight on it.

Iowa struggled on offense during its season-opening loss to South Dakota State while Iowa State looked solid against Southeast Missouri State in Week 1. Both squads have the capability of making a run at making this year's College Football Playoff, so this match-up will be crucial.

Iowa could use a dominating win to leapfrog Oklahoma and potentially enter the top four of final rankings, while an Iowa State victory would diminish their chances. Iowa State may get preference over Texas A&M on this particular committee decision day; therefore this game will provide valuable insight.

An afternoon game in Iowa City should make for a lively and exciting atmosphere, no matter the result. Iowa is revered nationally while Iowa State carries its own rich legacy.
Texas at Alabama

Texas at Alabama stands as one of the most anticipated games on this year's college football schedule, as both conferences and playoff ramifications come into play here. Alabama enters as the clear favorite here, though Texas may make amends after its disappointing 2021 campaign.

Last year's match-up between Texas and Alabama was an enthralling 20-19 thriller that ended with Alabama edging out Austin with a narrow win. Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers demonstrated why he won the starting position over Hudson Card with an impressive first quarter (9-of-12 for 134 yards). Unfortunately for Texas, Ewers was knocked out early in the second half, leaving Alabama's defense to step in late to secure victory.

Week 2 brings numerous noteworthy games. Oregon will face Washington in an intriguing matchup of Pac-12 contenders and Heisman Trophy hopefuls, while two late games warrant watching: BYU hosts Baylor for an anticipated future Big 12 rivalry matchup and West Virginia quarterback Dana Holgorsen takes on former Houston teammates when West Virginia takes on Houston.
Colorado at TCU

Colorado opens their season at TCU in a matchup that could garner extra national interest due to FOX's Big Noon Saturday broadcast window - this marks one of college football's flagship windows and marks CU's first opening game on network TV since 1984!

TCU was last in the nation against running backs last season, so the Buffaloes will likely exploit that weakness by running all day and creating havoc for an TCU offense that didn't generate many points on its own.

Colorado will look to build an effective running game with Alabama transfer Tommy Brown at their side, while also adding depth in their secondary in order to impede TCU's passing attack.
Wyoming at Illinois

Wyoming and Illinois will square off in their inaugural Big Ten Week 0 contest of 2022 season, hoping for Tommy DeVito from Syracuse transfer back at quarterback to help start this campaign. Last year the Illini posted 7 wins during Bret Bielema's second campaign before going 5-7 with Bret as coach.

Craig Bohl's ninth-year coaching stint ended with a 6-6 record and victory in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. They will likely rely heavily on running back Chase Brown who averaged over 181 yards per game last season.

Fox has an outstanding schedule. On Sept. 2, Fox presents another Big Noon matchup between Nebraska and Notre Dame; at 7:30 p.m. there will be the Cy-Hawk rivalry in Austin plus Wisconsin at Washington State. In their noon slot on ESPN there are intriguing matchups such as Ole Miss vs Tulane; Cincinnati at Pittsburgh; Appalachian State against North Carolina as well as Tennessee-Florida matchups and LSU against Boston College games that were all shown last season. All these games compare favorably against last year's slate which featured Tennessee at Florida and LSU against Boston College matchups among others.
